2023 marks an important anniversary: ​​the 100th Opera season at the Verona Arena that the homonymous foundation is celebrating with an extraordinary festival. The agenda boasts a program of 50 performances, distributed between 16 June and 9 September.

This summer the protagonists of the Arena Opera Festival will be the most successful operas of the last 100 editions, since 1913. To name a few: Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.

An art exhibition dedicated to opera and music

Thanks to the collaboration between Hotel Indigo Venice and the Radio Museum of Verona, our guests have the opportunity to visit a real exhibition set up in the common areas of the hotel, displaying works of art of great value that are inextricably linked to the history of opera and music.

It will be possible to admire an early 20th century gramophone signed by Pathé, a company known for its phonograph devices and for record distribution. You will also find a gramophone in the famous work painted in 1898 by Francis Barraud, which portrays Nipper, the dog of his deceased brother, listening to the voice of his owner coming from the instrument.

In an exhibited photo, Maria Callas and her husband are portrayed in Piazza delle Erbe on 27 June 1947. Callas made her debut as an opera singer right at the Verona Arena and she spent the first years of her career in Verona.

You will also find stage costumes and accessories used in some of the most popular performances in opera history.
