Visiting Verona during Christmas time it’s like being in a fairytale, as in this special time of the year the atmosphere of the city becomes – if possible! – even more romantic than usual.

The Christmas market in the city center

The 12th edition of the Christmas Markets in Verona will be held from November 12th to December 26th, 2021, in collaboration with the “Christkindlmarkt” of Nuremberg. Piazza dei Signori and the streets of the historic center will be animated by traditional wooden houses, decorations, lights and events.

The over 100 traditional houses of the Christkindlmarkt are set up in Piazza dei Signori, ready to offer handicraft products, decorations and many gift ideas. In the courtyard of the Old Market, instead, you will find traditional local products and specialties from other Italian regions.

• Friday, Saturday, days before holidays: 10.00-23.00
• December 24th market closes at 17.00

The star in Piazza Bra

During Christmas time particular attention is given to the city lighting, which is designed to enable our visitors to fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere. Do not miss the great Christmas star in Piazza Bra, considered the largest steel archisculpture in the world, weighing 88 tons and 100 meters high.

The ice rink

Set up in front of the former Arsenal, the ice-skating rink is the new entry of 2021. You will have the chance to skate surrounded by three icons of the city: the Ponte Scaligero, the Adige and Castelvecchio.

Here too you can find a Christmas market that surrounds the ice rink making the atmosphere even more jolly and festive.

Festival of Nativity Scenes from the World

If you visit Verona between the end of November and the end of January, another annual event we recommend to you is the exhibition dedicated to Nativity Scenes from the World.

It is held in the Arena and consists of a well-assorted display of nativity scenes and works of art inspired by the theme of the Nativity, from museums, collections, masters and enthusiasts from all over the world. Its value goes far beyond the merely material one, as it offers a complete artistic picture of the nativity scene tradition on an intercontinental scale.

The exhibition, with its 400 nativity scenes from all over the world, is included in the Guinness Book of Records and is held from November 20th 2021 to January 23rd 2022, every day from 9.00 to 20.00.
